NotePad++ and the FTP Plugin

For my text editing need (sql, html, asp, php, or just plain text), I use NotePad++, which is a well known “free (as in “free speech” and also as in “free beer”) source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages.”

It supports plug-ins, and I really like Ftp_Synchronize (‘unofficial’ updated versions here ) : it allows you to connect to ftp from the editor and download a file. You can then edit it norammaly, and when you save, the modified files is automatically uploaded. It’s not going to be a major breakthrough, but tt’s just convenient. And sometimes, that’s good enough for me.

(The “Edit” menu option of Filezilla is nearly as convenient)
